William Drake

Chairman

William is Chairman of RFR and brings the benefit of decades of experience sitting, as he puts it, “on the private client’s side of the table”.

A graduate of Pembroke College, Cambridge, he was a barrister and US attorney until 1979. He then joined the corporate finance department of Kleinwort Benson followed by 17 years at Granville plc, a leading investment bank in the growth company sector. In 2000 he co-founded Lord North Street (the award winning private investment office), building the business up to and through its merger with Sandaire in 2014.

Amongst other roles, he has advised public and private companies and the entrepreneurs behind them on business strategy, board structure and remuneration. He has been recognised by STEP, Spear’s and other professional associations as one of the leading figures in wealth management. He was a Presiding Judge for the STEP Private Client Awards 2012/13, was a member of the Development Committee of The Prince’s Teaching Institute and is a Director of The Colville Estate Limited as well as having won a host of awards in his own right.

He enjoys sailing and has a farm in Suffolk where he is actively involved in a conservation project.
