Designing and project managing the installation of a new:
- mani-pedi area (in an awkward space with curved walls and limited natural light);
- cardio room (with suspended floor); and
- reception area for the medical suite.
Once again the Grace team called on us to upgrade areas of the club in order to make them work better for both staff and members.
Appointed in late November, we had just 4 weeks to design the spaces, co-ordinate all tradesmen, rally suppliers and order materials.
Installation then had to be completed during a strict 7 day window when the club was closed over Christmas and New Year.
Since Grace is for its female members only during the day, we had to sneak the predominantly male team of workers in under cover of the night!
A delicate moment came when we winched out a £150k dry flotation bed, narrowly avoiding the Christmas decorations hanging over West Halkin Street!
We designed bespoke joinery and upholstery to fit the reception and the awkward space of the mani-pedi area, increasing the sense of space in both areas. We re-used decorative silver birch trunks to tranquil effect, adding further texture to the scheme with woven wallpaper. With a keen eye on the budget, we chose very reasonably priced tiling and lighting, upping the wow factor with opulent cushions sourced selectively on the High Street.
