One of the finest houses in Notting Hill, previously divided into four flats. Our client wished to amalgamate the Grade 2 listed property back into a single house. This was contentious owing to a policy created by RBKC in 2014, prohibiting amalgamations.
The odds seemed very much against us, but we brought together a team – a leading planning consultant and architect – to understand the policy and practice and to devise a strategy that gave us the best possible opportunity.
Together we proposed the heritage benefits of restoring a building of such significance into its original form to the council, and ultimately ours was the only application to go through without appeal.
