Having become close to our client throughout the search process, we were thrilled when she engaged us to design and project manage the refurbishment of her family’s new home.
The scale of this project grew exponentially – from the paint schedule initially requested into a much more extensive cosmetic refurbishment. Our client has a cool, slightly bohemian, personal style and she wanted to reflect this in her family home.
- Our main challenge was timing! Having picked up the keys in mid-August, our client was desperate for the house to be ready for her stepchildren’s visit over the Christmas holidays.
- Although they were great, she lacked confidence in her own ideas and needed our help to bring them to life.
We lined up quality builders to prioritise the nuts and bolts of the project – replacing inadequate damp proofing, underpinning a bay and other minor structural work to accommodate a stunning master suite. Our client loved the idea of quirky touches so we were introduced her to suppliers who produce bespoke work without breaking the bank (including Emery & Cie’s beautiful cement tiles with a design of trailing leaves and one curious frog!). We negotiated lead times, mixing high end items (such as stunning sanitary ware from Drummonds) with flea market finds throughout. The final piece slotted into place as a custom made shower screen was winched in through an upstairs window just before Christmas!
